Vancouver Elks deliver food boxes to Clark County Veterans Assistance Center

May 30-ESTHER SHORT - On May 1 Frank Wilson, Bart Reid and Diana Reid from Vancouver Elks 823 delivered 25 food boxes to the Clark County Veterans Assistance Center, CCVAC. Delivery of these boxes has been an ongoing effort as CCVAC space is limited.

CCVAC is a resource center for veterans in downtown Vancouver starting in 2011 from the conversation with Vietnam veterans who expressed, "There oughta be a place." It has since grown to provide: County Vet Fund, VA claims assistance through two veteran service officers on site, a food pantry, clothing, meals and day shelter, a community event space, hosting an annual Stand Down, monthly haircuts and more.

Vancouver Elks 823's partnership with this group this year has been providing food boxes. The work involves countless hours of gathering, transporting and assembling a specific list of shelf stable foods provided by the CCVAC.

This project has been funded through the Beacon Grant provided by ENF administered by Leading Knight Robert Nashif.
