Suspect arrested in connection with stabbing death Friday in Battle Ground
A Battle Ground man has been arrested on counts of murder and attempted murder in connection with a stabbing incident Friday afternoon in Battle Ground, the Clark County Sheriff's Office announced Saturday.
The Clark County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit arrested Steven Williams, 39, for one count of murder in the first degree (domestic violence), and one count of attempted murder in the first degree (domestic violence). Williams was booked into the Clark County Jail.
Around 1:30 p.m. Friday, the Clark County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported stabbing near NE 117th Avenue and NE 244th Street in Battle Ground.
When deputies arrived, they found two people had been stabbed. A man died at the scene, and a woman was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The woman remains in stable condition. The victims' names have not yet been released.
Authorities said both victims are related to Williams, who surrendered to law enforcement when they arrived. Multiple knives were recovered from the scene.
Northeast 244th Street was closed Friday afternoon and evening while the initial investigation was in progress. The street has reopened to traffic. The investigation is still active and continuing, the Sheriff's Office said.
