State Department of Health board files statement of charges against Clark County psychologist

The Washington State Department of Health's Examining Board of Psychology has filed a statement of charges against a Clark County psychologist, alleging unprofessional conduct and that he failed to protect clients' confidentiality.

The board alleges Vancouver psychologist Jeffrey Allen Lee, of NW Family Psychology, mishandled a child custody evaluation and broadcast confidential client names during a video deposition. The board issued the statement of charges May 8.

Lee could not be reached for comment.

According to the statement of charges, Lee was appointed in March 2020 by Clark County Superior Court to conduct a bilateral custody evaluation for a woman in her divorce case. In a bilateral custody evaluation, a neutral party evaluates the parents and children to determine a custody and parenting plan.

The statement of charges alleges Lee provided a draft evaluation with names of people unrelated to the woman's evaluation. He allegedly failed to include parent-child observations as part of the custody evaluation, dated October 2020. The board also alleges Lee failed to record his direct behavioral observations of the family or note any limitations that occurred during his testing. He also allegedly failed to document the reason he didn't interview contacts the woman provided to support her case.

Additionally, during a video deposition April 8, 2021, Lee allegedly left the names of his clients visible in the background of his camera frame.

Lee has the opportunity to defend against the charges. If he doesn't, he faces potential disciplinary action, which could include fines, practice restrictions or the suspension of his license.
