The NAACP Vancouver Branch announced a leadership transition as President Larry Nelson resigned from his position effective June 8.

Since assuming the role of president in December 2024, Nelson has provided dedicated leadership, guidance and advocacy in support of the NAACP's mission to advance equity, justice and opportunity in the community, according to a news release from the nonprofit. Under his leadership, the branch continued its commitment to civil rights advocacy, community engagement and strengthening partnerships throughout Clark County.

"Serving as president has been one of the most meaningful honors of my life," Nelson said. "I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together in advancing the mission."

Following the branch's succession plan, First Vice President Mark Frazier will assume the role of president and serve in that capacity until the next branch election in December.

"I look forward to working alongside our members and community partners as we continue advancing the mission together," Frazier said.
