Search for missing Lake Chelan man continues

The Chelan County Sheriff's Office continues to search Lake Chelan for a man who Saturday afternoon went into the lake but did not resurface.

A 43-year-old man from Snohomish County was last seen in the lake about two miles east from Lake Chelan State Park. The sheriff's office Monday morning was out in a boat and received assistance from the Douglas County PUD to use a remote-controlled underwater vehicle to assist in their search, said Sgt. Jason Reinfeld with the sheriff's office.

The location the man was last seen was roughly across the lake from Manson's Wapato Point and downlake from a monument on Highway 971. At the last known point, the approximate depth is 200 feet which is too deep for a dive team to search.

Reinfeld said they would use a helicopter to search the lake to see whether the man is in shallower waters than expected.

He cautioned the public to swim carefully during windy conditions.
