Brush fire in rural Rainier contained to 1 acre
Officials say a brush fire, southwest of the city of Rainier, is under control as of Monday evening.

Columbia River Fire & Rescue Chief Eric Smythe told The Daily News that the brush fire was confined to an acre of undeveloped land on hills above the city of Rainier as of about 4:15 p.m.
He added that the Oregon Department of Forestry will remain on the scene to mop up.
Watch Duty, the wildfire and flood tracking platform, reports crews arrived at the fire at 2:15 p.m. in the 29000 block of Ferncrest Drive.
The Oregon Department of Forestry and the fire departments from Scappoose, Clatskanie and Vernonia responded to the blaze, according to a Columbia River Fire & Rescue notice.
