Noxious Weed Control hosts free tansy ragwort disposal

Cowlitz County Noxious Weed Control invites residents to bring bags of flowering tansy ragwort for free disposal at Lion's Pride Park in Castle Rock 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

The tansy must be in bags, and bags contaminated with other trash will not be accepted.

Participants with large amounts of tansy can obtain a disposal voucher to bring loose loads of tansy covered with a tarp to waste control.

Those who need a disposal voucher or bags to collect tansy can contact Noxious Weed Control at 360-577-3117 before the event.

Tansy ragwort is a weed with yellow daisy-like flowers that can grow up to 6 feet tall. The Cowlitz County Noxious Weed Control Board reports that it is toxic to humans and livestock when eaten.

Pulled plants should be disposed of in sealed bags to prevent seeds from spreading.
