Motorcyclist airlifted following collision at White Pass
A motorcyclist was airlifted to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital Wednesday following a crash on U.S. Highway 12 at White Pass, according to Naches Fire Department Chief Alan Baird.
"The injured rider lost control of his motorcycle in part due to road conditions," Baird wrote on Facebook Wednesday evening. "A significant drop in the road surface at that location may have caused the rider to lose control."
Baird said the motorcycle came to rest about 300 feet down a steep slope after going over the guardrail. The motorcyclist, meanwhile, "slid for some distance on the paved surface."
According to Baird, EMS personnel evaluated the man at the scene. The man was later flown to the hospital by an Airlift Northwest helicopter.
"Work will be starting soon in that section to repair the highway surface," Baird said. "During this time please use caution and be prepared for delays."
