Delta Air Lines flight grounds in Seattle due to suspicious package

A Delta Air Lines plane from Incheon, South Korea, to Atlanta diverted to Seattle Monday morning after the flight crew spotted a suspicious package, the airline said.

Flight 188 landed at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport just before 10:30 a.m., according to FlightAware.

The flight crew made the decision to divert to Seattle "out of an abundance of caution," Delta Air Lines spokesperson Samantha Facteau said.

There were nearly 300 people aboard the flight, including the crew, Facteau said.

The plane was staged at a taxiway, and passengers were deplaned onto buses while the investigators assessed the situation and swept the aircraft, said Sea-Tac airport spokesperson Perry Cooper.

No credible threat was discovered, and no arrests were made, Cooper said.

The passengers were then reboarded onto the plane, which was taken to a gate, Cooper said. They will go through customs before continuing on their way.

Teams are working with passengers to find accommodations to their final destination, Facteau said.

"Safety and security come before all else at Delta," the airline said in a statement. "We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels and Delta teams are working to get them to their final destinations today.
