Seattle, Western WA 2026 Earth Day events round-up

It's Earth Day. Millions will take a moment today to give back to this green and blue planet that gives more than 8 billion of us a home.

So whether it's getting down and dirty with cleanups or green with your neighborhood community, here are a few events you can attend to honor this decades old tradition make your green and blue home a cleaner place:

Restoration at Be'er Sheva Park

Be'er Sheva Park, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Get your hands dirty with other volunteers at Be'er Sheva Park in Rainier Beach. Your crew will be removing invasive plants, cleaning up the park and spreading mulch to support healthy soil and tree growth. This work is meant to protect the local ecosystem and teach environmental stewardship.

Clean up at Kubota Garden

Kubota Garden, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Head over to this Japanese garden in Rainier Beach with some gloves, outdoor footwear and a water bottle. Volunteers will be planting native trees, shrubs and ground cover. Kubota Garden is nearly 100 years old, constructed in 1927 by Fujitaro Kubota. Organizers will provide water, tea, snacks and tools.

"Forest Bathing" in the Bellevue

Bellevue Botanical Garden, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Take a trip to the east side for a "forest bathing" walk in Bellevue Botanical Garden with psychotherapist Deborah Wilk. Wilk will take you on a walk through the forest, guiding with the Japanese therapeutic tactic "shinrin-yoku" (forest bathing) and mindfulness meditation. The walk is about a mile long and it'll run you $45, by the way.

Plant Swap at Ravenna Refills

Ravenna Refills, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

At this home goods store in Ravenna, visitors can bring two potted plants and/or cuttings rooted and placed in water, and swap them for free with whatever new green friend they like. There will also be a special sale all day long.

Trail cleanup at Old Stove Ship Canal

Old Stove Brewing Ship Canal, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Wednesday will be this Seattle brewing company's third annual trail cleanup. Volunteers will be provided gloves, trash grabbers, bags, tunes and beverages.

Cleanup with Spinnaker Chocolate in Wallingford

Spinnaker Chocolate, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

If you can't take time away from your 9 to 5 for cleanup, don't worry, this one's for you. Meet up with Spinnaker Chocolate in Wallingford to clean up the neighborhood, "giving back to the planet in a laid-back, friendly atmosphere."

Paint for Earth Day with H2H Club

Near Sam Smith Park, starting at 6 p.m.

Join the University District artist community, H2H Club for a night of painting to finish out your Earth Day. The event will be relaxed and "centered on creativity, reflection, and connection." Organizers will provide all materials and you'll be able to take your canvas home. Just bring $10.
