Delta Air Lines launching new Seattle-Philadelphia nonstop flight

Delta Air Lines will launch its new nonstop flight between Seattle and Philadelphia Thursday night.

The nonstop service is scheduled to run once daily, on the Airbus A321neo. Philadelphia has been a "top-requested destination" for Delta's Seattle corporate customers, said Amy Martin, the airline's vice president of network planning, during an announcement in October.

"Seattle continues to be one of Delta's most important coastal gateways, connecting customers to key business and leisure destinations across the country and around the world," Martin said in the announcement.

Martin added that the new service reflects Delta's plans to build "an even stronger network from the Pacific Northwest." Delta is the third carrier to offer nonstop Seattle-Philadelphia flights, after Alaska Airlines and American Airlines.

Delta, the second largest carrier at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, has recently expanded its options for travelers flying out of Sea-Tac. The airline will also begin its service to Barcelona - the first nonstop flight to Spain out of Sea-Tac - Thursday afternoon, following the launch of its nonstop service to Rome Wednesday.
