Seattle

World Cup soccer is coming to Seattle. Will you root for the USA?

Seattle is a soccer-loving city, so there should be plenty of buzz when the U.S. men's national team plays a World Cup game here next month.

But it's also a liberal city, where President Donald Trump's actions at home and abroad have stirred strong feelings of anger and embarrassment.

So the U.S. team's World Cup quest, including a June 19 game against Australia at Lumen Field, may put some local fans in an awkward position.

On one hand, sports have the power to bring people together. This could be a chance for Seattleites of all backgrounds to celebrate as one. On the other hand, those who oppose Trump's crackdown on immigrants and war with Iran could be uncomfortable joining chants of "USA! USA!"

As Seattle prepares to host a U.S. game, we want to know what you're thinking about the World Cup, politics and patriotism. Get in touch below.
