7 top Seattle chefs at FareStart dinners include Ethan Stowell and more

FareStart's hot-ticket Guest Chef Nights are back, with the big local names for the next seven dinners including one of the biggest: Ethan Stowell, cooking in the James Beard Award-winning nonprofit's kitchen for the fourth time Sept. 10.

The most recent Guest Chef appearance by Stowell, in December 2024, sold out fast - and with the likes of John Sundstrom (Lark), Michela Tartaglia (Pasta Casalinga) and Nathan Lockwood (Altura and Carrello) also on deck, ticket availability is likely to be fleeting overall.

Stowell is representing his new Good Table Hospitality restaurant group - which plans to open Cut Club, a steakhouse at downtown's Hotel Max, and Lime Social, a Mexican restaurant in Kirkland, this summer.

Reservations for the dates below at FareStart's elegant, high-ceilinged Denny Triangle restaurant are live now at farestart.org/events/guest-chef-night.

The Guest Chef lineup through the end of September is:

* June 25: Michela Tartaglia of Pasta Casalinga

* July 9: Kevin Murray of Ray's Boathouse

* July 30: Nathan Lockwood of Altura and Carrello

* Aug. 13: John Sundstrom of Lark

* Aug. 27: Jose Garzon of Bad Chancla

* Sept. 10: Ethan Stowell of Good Table Hospitality

* Sept. 24: Brian Clevenger of General Harvest Restaurants with Ricardo Cruz of Vendemmia

Chefs volunteer their time, preparing three-course dinners with students enrolled in FareStart's restaurant-job-training program. Funds raised from the $60 tickets go back into the agency's programming, which is provided at no cost to those experiencing homelessness and other economic challenges, and also extends to housing assistance, substance-use recovery support, mental health counseling and job search help.

Since its inception in 1992, FareStart has enrolled nearly 8,000 students in its programs while serving nearly 20 million meals to Seattle-area schools, nonprofit organizations and shelters. Guest Chef Nights also started in 1992; more dates for this year will be announced in August.
