Man killed by Sounder train in Shoreline

A Sounder train struck and killed a pedestrian in Shoreline on Friday evening.

The incident occurred on the north line of the Sounder train around 6:20 p.m. just south of Edmonds, according to Sound Transit spokesperson Rachelle Cunningham.

It wasn't anyone involved with the train, it was someone on the track for an unknown reason," Cunningham said.

The victim was an adult male, according to Detective Michael Ramirez, spokesperson for the King County sheriff's office.

"He was on the tracks, the train operator did what they're supposed to, sounded their horn; unfortunately he didn't make it, Ramirez said. An investigation is underway, but it might be delayed due to the holiday weekend, he added.
