Washington State Ferries' 75th anniversary: Free goodies and onboard DJs

It's Washington State Ferries' 75th anniversary Monday, and just like any good birthday party, there will be goody bags and music to celebrate.

A custom WSF anniversary flag will even fly on top of the Space Needle like a candle on a birthday cake. The Seattle Great Wheel, the Highway 520 floating bridge and other local landmarks will also have special lighting to mark the occasion, and ferries will fly special flags throughout June.

ORCA will host an interactive station at Colman Dock from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday where visitors can play games and win prizes, the ferry division of the Washington State Department of Transportation said in a news release.

Ferry riders can get free anniversary giveaways including stickers starting Monday. There will be free popcorn or coffee available with any purchase in the galleys Monday as well.

More free swag will be available throughout June via WSF social media.

There will be live DJ sets on the sun decks of four ferries throughout June, hosted by KNHC-FM C89.5 Public Radio.

DJs will play:

* Seattle/Bainbridge Island on June 5 between 3 p.m. and 5:35 p.m. sailings

* Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth on June 12 between 3:30 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. sailings

* Edmonds/Kingston on June 18 between 2:25 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. sailings

* Seattle/Bremerton on June 30 between 2:50 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. sailings

The Bainbridge Youth Orchestra will perform aboard the Seattle/Bainbridge Island route on June 7. On Friday, KISW-FM 99.9 "The Rock" hosted its morning show aboard the Edmonds/Kingston route.
