Hit-and-run seriously injures 2 in Chinatown International District

Police are searching for a driver who accelerated onto a sidewalk, struck two men and drove off Sunday night in Seattle's Chinatown International District.

The men, 29 and 36, are hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries, according to a news release Monday by the Seattle Police Department.

Officers responded about 11:40 p.m. to reports of a hit-and-run crash near the intersection of 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street, where they found two men on the ground.

Detectives determined that the suspect had been westbound on Jackson and crossed the intersection shortly before veering onto the sidewalk and hitting the two men, police said.

Investigators believe the suspect didn't stop and continued westbound, according to the release.

Police are investigating.

Harborview Medical Center representatives did not immediately respond Monday to inquiries about the two men's conditions.
