Sunny skies ahead for Seattle's U.S. vs. Belgium World Cup match
The countdown is ticking for Seattle's sixth and final FIFA Men's World Cup match, when the U.S. and Belgium will battle Monday night for a spot in the tournament's quarterfinals.
While it's unclear which nail-biting fans will emerge victorious from Seattle Stadium, at least one thing is guaranteed: They'll be celebrating under sunny skies.
"We've been pretty lucky throughout the World Cup, and it's going to be another really nice day today for a game," said National Weather Service meteorologist Anna Lindeman.
Soccer spectators across Western Washington should expect sun, some light wind and high temperatures near 80 degrees on Monday, including around the match's 5 p.m. start time, Lindeman said.
Starting Tuesday, the region will likely see a return of slightly cooler, cloudier weather through the end of the week. Morning clouds are expected to give way to afternoon sunshine, with high temperatures in the 70s dropping into the mid-50s overnight, according to Lindeman.
Some light rain showers could fall across Western Washington on Wednesday, but otherwise the region will stay "mostly dry," she said.
