Weather-related delays and closures for Friday, Jan. 17

Icy roads early Friday prompted mostly delays and some closures in the South Puget Sound. This list will be updated as schools, organizations, and the state Department of Transportation make announcements.

Schools

Aberdeen School District: 2 hours late, no a.m. preschool due to icy road conditions.

Adna School District: 3 hours late.

Centralia School District: a.m. buses on snow routes.

Cosmopolis School District: 2 hours late.

Elma School District: 2 hours late, no a.m. preschool, a.m. buses on snow routes, no out-of-district transportation.

Grapeview School District: 2 hours late, no preschool.

Griffin School District: 2 hours late. Buses on regular routes except Summit Lake, which will be on an a.m. snow route.

Hood Canal School District: 2 hours late, no preschool, no activity bus runs.

Hoquiam School District: 2 hours late.

Mary M. Knight School District: Closed. No after school activities, basketball games canceled.

Montesano School District: Closed.

North Mason School District: 2 hours late, no a.m. preschool, a.m. buses on snow routes, no out-of-district transportation.

North Thurston Public Schools: 2 hours late, no preschool, no out-of-district transportation.

Oakville School District: Closed.

Ocosta School District: Closed.

Olympia School District: 2 hours late, no a.m. preschool, no out-of-district transportation. No zero hour classes. No before-school activities. No Avanti HS a.m. tutoring or academic services. Buses will pick up students on regular routes except for Routes 64 (Summit Lake) and Routes 50 (Cedar Flats), which are on snow routes. Breakfast and lunch will be served. All p.m. buses are on regular routes.

Pope John Paul II High School: Delayed start time. JPII will open at 10:00 am today due to icy road conditions. Details on final exams schedule will be posted on Schoology.

Rainier (WA) School District: 2 hours late, no a.m. preschool, a.m. buses on snow routes.

Rochester School District: On time. Alternate bus routes for 3, 4, 8, and 9.

Satsop School District: 2 hours late

Shelton School District: Closed, no out-of-district transportation. All after school activities are canceled.

South Bend School District: 2 hours late, no preschool.

South Kitsap School District: 2 hours late. No out-of-district transportation. No morning preschool. No morning Head Start. No breakfast program. No p.m. Special Ed pickup. No Elementary Band.

Southside School District: 2 hours late, possibility of closure.

St. Michael Olympia: 2 hours late, no Pre-K.

Taholah School District: 1 hour late. Students off today, staff training will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Tumwater School District: 2 hours late, a.m./p.m. buses on snow routes. No ACT early release. No New Market a.m. session. No out-of-district transportation.

White Pass School District: a.m./p.m. buses on snow routes

Willapa Valley School District: 2 hours late, no a.m. preschool.

Yelm Community Schools: All schools will start 2 hours late. Buses will pick up students two hours later than their normal time. There will be no morning or afternoon preschool, no morning out-of-district or Skills Center transportation, and no breakfast service.

Colleges & universities

Evergreen State College: 2 hours late. Olympia Campus will open at 10 a.m.

Grays Harbor College: 2 hours late. Aberdeen Main Campus classes start at 10 a.m.

Olympic College: Bremerton, Poulsbo, Shelton campus open at 10 a.m.

South Puget Sound CC: Opening at 10 a.m. Late start due to icy roads and conditions.

Organizations

Olympia Parks, Arts, & Recreation: Due to icy road conditions, all a.m. classes are cancelled as Olympia Schools are running two hours late. Drive safely, we’ll see you in the afternoon.

Skokomish Tribe: 2 hours late

South Sound YMCA-Child Care Services: Closed. No a.m. Y-care in the Olympia, North Thurston, Tumwater, or Yelm school districts due to delay.

Squaxin Island Tribe: Closed. Essential staff only.

Roads & transportation

Intercity Transit: Due to icy conditions, the SPSCC loop is currently closed. Routes 12, 42 and 68 will serve the main entrance off of Mottman. We will provide updates as conditions change. Please contact Customer Service at 360-786-1881 with questions.

Road conditions update from the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Operations Center (4:40 a.m.): Due to icy road conditions on JBLM, road conditions have been changed to Amber per request of JBLM Military Police. Use caution when driving on base.

U.S. 101: Trees down on U.S. 101 both directions at milepost 225 beginning at 8:17 p.m. on January 15, 2020 until further notice. One-way alternating traffic with stop signs.
