Get ready to roast. Olympia may feel effects of Eastern Washington heat wave next week
Another heat wave is in the works for the Pacific Northwest. AccuWeather meteorologists say not only could temperatures approach records set late last month, but the heat and dry landscape could boost wildfire activity.
The good news is Thurston County will be on the fringes of the surging wave. While the Tri Cities, for example, could experience highs near to above 100 degrees for a full week starting Monday, Olympia’s highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s will last from Tuesday to Thursday.
Most of the Northwest, from the Cascades east to Helena and Boise, will see high temperatures 10 to 20 degrees above normal during the middle of next week, AccuWeather reports.
Olympia already has logged 11 days with temperatures above 90 degrees in 2022, one more than the 10 in 2021. The annual average is seven days with highs above 90.
