Embrace sunny taste of spring before rain returns to South Sound Sunday
If you’ve been waiting for a weekend to get outside, now’s your chance. But do it fast; Friday and Saturday will be warm and sunny, but Sunday could leave you wishing you had packed your rain jacket.
According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, the high temperature for Friday, March 17, is 59 degrees, and Saturday, March 18, in Olympia is predicted to be 63 degrees. And there should be few clouds in the sky until nighttime rolls around.
The low is expected to be 43 degrees Saturday night, bringing the high on Sunday down to 56 degrees with a 50% chance of rain. The chance of rain increases Sunday night to 80%, setting next week up to be another gray and wet one for the region.
Meteorologist Dustin Guy said this weather pattern is pretty typical for March and April in Washington. He said we’ll get small bursts of warm weather that are immediately met by another week or more of rainy conditions.
But with the official first day of spring happening Monday, Guy said the weather systems that bring rain to the region start to weaken, so it won’t be steady rain all day long. Instead, there will be spotty showers on and off starting Sunday.
