Forecasters say thunderstorms, hail, even tornadoes possible Wednesday in Thurston County

Thurston County residents should brace for possible thunderstorms and rain Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 30-50% chance for thunderstorms to happen across Western Washington from Wednesday afternoon into the evening, according to the Washington state Emergency Management Division. Primary threats are for hail and wind, they report.

However, there’s a 2% to 4% chance that a tornado could form in Western Washington — a rare occurrence.

The forecast says heavy rain, wind along with a possible thunderstorm would arrive in Thurston County about dinner time Wednesday. The high will be near 70 degrees, which also was the high temperature on Tuesday.

Rain is expected to continue through Friday, but temperatures will drop back into the 40s and 50s.
