The NWS Pendleton OR released a fire weather watch at 1:43 a.m. on Wednesday valid for Thursday between noon and 8 p.m. for Kittitas Valley and Lower Columbia Basin.
Winds are forecasted to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and relative humidity as low as 12%.
"Low Relative Humidity and Windy conditions will create critical fire weather conditions across the Yakima/Kittitas Valley and the Columbia Basin of OR and WA," comments the NWS. "Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended."
This watch is in effect until Thursday at 8 p.m.
According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
