Holiday weekend weather will be cool in South Sound, but mainly dry, forecasters say
At a time when nothing seems usual, Memorial Day weekend weather may be the exception, with a range of conditions from chilly to nice for the unofficial start to summer.
While the South and Midwest are pummeled by storms over the holiday, the rainy pattern affecting South Sound so far this week will break down by this weekend, but it won’t be an immediate change.
“It’s going to be really cool and wet across most of the West through the end of this week. It will stay chilly in the Northwest ... through Saturday,” said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Samuhel. That translates to highs barely reaching 60 in South Sound.
“However, by Memorial Day itself it will turn warmer again across the Northwest, with mainly dry weather for Sunday and Monday as well,” Samuhel said.
The Weather Channel expects the nicest day to be Monday, when highs will reach the upper 60s, with cloudy skies.
The exception may be the Washington coast, where a storm tracking toward British Columbia could bring some rain on Memorial Day.
