Othello may ticket car theft victims $210 who left keys

OTHELLO, Wash. – Having your car stolen in Othello could bring a $210 ticket.

Police have asked the city council to pass an ordinance to reduce the accessibility of vehicles that could be easily stolen.

Police Chief Steve Dunnagan says of the 41 vehicles stolen last year in Othello, 25 had the keys left inside.

The Tri-City Herald reports the council discussed the ordinance this week without taking action.
