Editorial openings

EDITORIAL BOARD: There is still room for another community member on The Olympian Editorial Board. This volunteer role is a chance to help shape our editorial positions. It requires attendance at board meetings where we interview newsmakers. The board typically meets at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays but we are considering different times to allow more participation.

Send us a short letter by Dec. 23 that describes your background, philosophy, and what you can bring to our discussions. Address it to Editorial Board/community member, The Olympian, 111 Bethel St. NE, Olympia, WA 98506. Or email it to bshannon@theolympian.com and put "Editorial Board/community member" in the subject line.

BOARD OF CONTRIBUTORS: Similarly we are offering a last chance for guest writers to join our volunteer Board of Contributors. Given a chance to write a 650-700 word newspaper column every six to eight weeks, what would you write about? Please send us a cover letter by Dec. 23 with information about your educational and occupational background and any relevant ethic background. Tell us why you want to write a column and note any area of expertise or passion, your political philosophy and writing experience. Also include two writing samples of no less than 600 words on current topics.

Send these to: Board of Contributors, The Olympian, 111 Bethel St. NE, Olympia, WA 98506. Or send them electronically to: bshannon@theolympian.com, putting "Board of Contributors" into the subject line.
