Electoral map headline misleading
The headline “Electoral mpa has a built-in bias in favor of Democrats” (Sept. 12) was just plain inaccurate as well as being misleading.
The Electoral Map has zero “built-in” bias. It’s a map that reflects demographics. Dictionary.com defines bias as: ...inclination, feeling or opinion, especially one that is preconceived or unreasoned. “Built-in” implies someone or something built that bias into it.
There is nothing preconceived or unreasoned about a map that reflects one political party doing better in certain segments of the population than others. This is by design. Political parties reach out to voters with programs that matter to them. That the demographics show one party being more successful than another at doing this does not in any way imply bias.
I can’t recall a more egregious misleading headline.
