Vote for I-732 for tax switch

Fifteen of the 16 warmest years since record keeping began in the 1880s have come since 2000. Also, this past July and August have tied for the hottest months on record. The sea level rose about 1.2 inches during the last 10 years and the rate of rise is accelerating. In Miami Beach and other low lying cities they are raising the streets to compensate for high water. For the first time in history a few cargo ships have begun sailing through ice-free lanes in the Arctic.

Global warming is happening because of the burning of fossil fuels which creates Co2 which in turn traps the heat of the sun and does not allow enough of the sun's heat to radiate back into outer space.

Global warming is here, but we can do something about it by voting for I-732 this November. I-732 will put a tax on carbon in order to discourage the use of fossil fuels and encourage the use of alternate fuels. The revenue from this tax will be used to lower the sales tax by 1 percent, eliminate the the business and occupation tax, and fund the working families tax rebate. It is considered a tax switch instead of an added tax.

Please vote for I-732.
