Reykdal will protect LGBTQ+ youth in our schools.

Having a strong proponent of LGBTQ+ rights in every level of political office is incredibly important for myself, my family, and my community.

This is why I am supporting Chris Reykdal for Superintendent of Public Instruction, and I ask that you do as well. Chris is a staunch progressive and he always has been. It takes more than just saying you support the LGBTQ community — it takes real action!

During his six years in the State House of Representatives, Chris has co-sponsored and fought for bills to increase mental health services in schools, achieve marriage equality, expand parental rights of domestic partners, restrict sexual orientation change efforts on minors, protect victims of sex crimes, expand suicide education programs, and more.

As Monisha Harrell, the Chair of Equal Rights Washington said, “We need the allies who aren’t just allies when they know they’re going to get caught, but who are allies when we are not even in the room.” Harrell said this when asked why Equal Rights Washington endorsed Chris Reykdal for OSPI over his opponent.

The superintendent sets health and curriculum standards for every school in the state. They are also in charge of putting policies in place that protect the safety of all students. As stated by Reykdal, “I will run through walls to protect LGBTQ youth in our schools and in our communities.” I believe him.
