Say no to Initiative 1

Please vote no to Initiative 1, for an income tax on the citizens of Olympia. This initiative was primarily created and financially supported by people in Seattle, not here in Olympia. The reality is that a city cannot levy an income tax under the law so why do this? The sponsor of this initiative, “Opportunity for Olympia”, has flooded us with direct mail ads in support. Interesting to note that their ad states that “nearly 25 percent of Olympia’s high school graduates don’t continue on to any kind of higher education”. That means that 75 percent do so! And the rest find great jobs in trades, construction, military, government, Boeing, etc. Not everyone is interested in attending college. We Olympians are doing quite well!
