Political correctness is respectful
It seems like president-elect Donald Trump is the same as candidate Trump. He puts out big, bold statements that may be impossible and then watches the media and social media to see how they fly. These big, bold statements scare us and divide us but they don’t have to if we take a look at the process. A president has very little power on his own as most of the power is in Congress. The people elected to Congress were elected the normal way with years of public service and experience in government behind them.
A president is required to submit a list of potential cabinet members and many times these appointments go to people who have been loyal during the campaign. But these appointments are all just suggestions because the Senate has to approve or reject them. This will be a long process and our senators will want to hear from us, so add our senators’ contact information to your favorites list.
Trump was elected because he abandoned political correctness, made a lot of promises that won’t be kept and brought forward some good ideas. Everybody wants to create jobs by rebuilding the nation‘s infrastructure and we‘re going to hold Trump to that promise. Let’s not be scared of every day’s news because Congress and all of our other institutions are stronger than one celebrity, turned candidate, elected president. And, let’s return to political correctness because it's respectful.
