Mothers Day appeal for our elected representatives

May 14 is Mothers Day. A very special day for all of us to pay respects to our moms and to the nurturing passion of each mother, who gives birth to a precious baby imagining a healthy safe future of their newborn.

I take this opportunity to draw the attention towards the mom’s who are fearful for the future well being of their newborn, due to lack of resources and extreme poverty. Lack of adequate nutrition in the first thousand days of a child’s life can lead to malnutrition, growth stunt and even death. I imagine a world where no child anywhere will face starvation in the first thousand days of their life. This is very much achievable. All we need; is to have proper policies that value child survival and development work.

I am urging our elected representatives and senators to use their vote to ensure that essential programs of nutrition and development stay well funded for the future of our children, who are the future of a peaceful world.
