Persistence of guns is a given
After the Alexandria baseball practice shooting last week, Michigan US Representative Jack Bergman said “...you don’t expect to go to baseball practice for a charity game and be shot at.”
Neither did the parishioners at Emmanuel Church in Charleston; nor did the party-goers at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando; nor did the employees at the Health Dept holiday party in San Bernardino; nor did the 6- and 7-year-olds at Sandy Hook Elementary School; nor did the midnight movie-goers in Aurora; nor did Gabby Giffords at the Safeway in Tucson.
No Capitol Police around to be heroes for these people; 106 dead, 90 injured. What they all had in common: The persistence of guns.
