The Home Fund:Put choice in the hands of the people

I would like to challenge every citizen of Olympia to ask themselves one question right this moment, and be brutally honest with your answer.

“Are we a community? Or are we a just a bunch of people who all decided it was nice to live close to a port, but far away from Seattle?”

A community takes care of its members. All of them. Not just the fortunate ones.

In a community, a rising tide raises all ships.

In a community, people aren’t left to die on the street. And yes, people are left to die on our streets. Ask the homeless COMMUNITY. They’ll tell you.

In a community, we harness our collective strengths to build things that solve problems and bring us closer together, making us stronger than ever before.

In a community, decisions about how to do this are left up to the will of the people.

The people have spoken, and according to a recent poll, 77 percent of our community supports immediate action to help solve the homelessness crisis that has plagued our great city for years.

Right now, there is a plan to do just that, and it’s called The Home Fund. The City Council is debating whether or not they should put it on the ballot.

So many people say “I want to help, but I don’t know what to do?” Well, now, finally, we have doers, they are the members of the Home Fund, and it’s time for the community to stand behind them.
