George Bridges is wrong about Evergreen

George Bridges is wrong. Militarizing Evergreen’s campus, whether with State Patrol in riot gear or more campus police, won’t protect students, faculty or their learning environment.

As an Evergreen student said outside the Legislative Hearing room, President Bridges is trying to deal with an inside problem by talking to those on the outside, i.e., the Legislature. Evergreen needs to unify itself first, then ask for community support.

If Bridges continues to close campus rather than open it up, the call to keep it closed will be easier to implement and we will all lose a valued community asset.
