A call to end the Muslim ban

I am appalled by this week’s Supreme Court decision to endorse the bigoted Muslim ban. The premise of the ban is discriminatory and its reach is disastrous. Rather than make anyone safer, the Muslim ban is causing fear and anxiety in people who have done nothing wrong. Families are living in uncertainty not because of what they’ve done, but because of who they are.

Human rights cannot be sacrificed in the name of national security. If this travel ban is allowed to stand, what could come next? This order could open the doors to even more hate and bigotry. We cannot stand aside and allow the United States to continue to pursue hateful policies.

Where the courts have failed, Congress can and must change our course. It must immediately nullify this bigoted ban. I’m calling on my Senators to take a stand and boldly speak out against the travel ban.
