The Muslim ban is unconscionable

The Supreme Court has just endorsed hate and bigotry by partially allowing the Trump administration’s Muslim ban to be implemented. This is not the America I believe in. There are real security issues that must be addressed, but there is a right way and a wrong way to do that. Demonizing people simply based on where they are from and what religion they practice is wrong.

I call on my senators, Murray and Cantwell, to stand up as champions during this crisis. The court’s ruling could pave the way for future discriminatory policies, and will likely cause fear and anxiety for millions of people in the United States and around the world. The entire ban is unreasonable, discriminatory and wrong.

If the courts will not block its harmful effects, then Congress must immediately step in. I am looking to my elected officials for leadership, to pass legislation to once and for all block this bigoted ban.
