McGregor is the smart choice for Port

As a former Port Commissioner, I understand the role the port must take in order to continue its mission of economic development.

An important part of that mission is strengthening Thurston County’s global ties by having a functioning seaport operation of which Bill McGregor has steadfastly supported. A recent Elway Research polling shows that 79 percent of county residents believe that the jobs provided by the port contribute to the county’s economy. Moreover, 71 percent disagree with doing away with the marine terminal. People in our community understand the marine terminal not only allows Thurston County businesses access to international markets but it also provides family wage jobs for the local community.

Bill is a true port professional as a certified port manager and has served in port leadership for more than 30 years. That experience includes making sure that the port’s marine terminal, marina, airport and real estate operations are managed in the best interest of all Thurston County residents. Bill also has been a leader in expanding the Port of Olympia throughout the county by renewed investment in Lacey and Tumwater as well as continuing the small cities program where there is a real need for economic help.

It was a pleasure to serve with Bill McGregor on the Port of Olympia Commission. He has a superlative record of service both at the Port of Olympia Commission and in this community. Please support Bill McGregor to continue making progress for the people of Thurston County.
