Bipartisan progress made on climate

In the boggy place called Congress, a minor miracle happened a week or so ago. Forty-six brave Republicans joined Democrats in voting down an amendment which would have blocked a study on the impact of climate change on national security. We applaud our own Denny Heck for voting to drop this imbecilic amendment from the National Defense Authorization Act.

After all, rising seas, increasing and more intense natural disasters, and climate refugees will certainly have an impact on National Security.

It is encouraging to see climate change as an issue about which there can be agreement within the two parties. The bi-partisan House Climate Solutions Caucus is proof of that and perhaps we will yet see a Carbon Fee and Dividend program come out of this Congress.
