Don’t let PSE continue to mine coal
It is my understanding that PSE will be asking the Washington Utilities and Transportation Board for permission to continue to mine coal in Montana until 2035 rather than curtailing it by 2025. That coal would then continue to be used in the mix to provide us with electricity. Its current use is approximately 30 percent. This would not only be damaging to the planet and to our health, but they would also be reneging on their promise to us.
I also understand that PSE wants to replace coal with fracked gas. This would also be harmful to our planet and much more expensive that replacing with renewables such as wind and solar. PSE is the second largest utility in the nation in producing wind power. They should be using what they have.
Make your voices heard by either attending their meeting on Aug. 31 or by calling in or writing a letter to the commissioners. We need to stop being abused by our utility.
