Do not repeat sins of history
The guilt of German descendants about their fathers’ sins made some look into Native American history, whose “ problem” (goal of their extinction) started several hundred years ago. British and American concentration camps of India, South Africa and the U.S. west coast respectively, happened prior to Hitler’s birth.
As a progressive no-gun-owning contemporary I keep coming across the United States’ perpetual denial of their own horrid history, while harping heavily on the 12 years (1933-1945) of the detestable Nazi era. Listen to native or African Americans’ stories, their ongoing persecutions.
Land grabs of “going East” (in Europe) were considered “wrong” while “going West” in the U. S. was supposed to be laudable? Religious practices (including far too many offspring imperiling our environment) must give way to interdenominational contacts as a first step toward tolerance.
The Dali Lama’s and Rabbi Rami Shapiro’s wisdom along with unity’s teachings feel like the next step to me.
Peace means gentle stillness, caring, love. Are you embracing them on a daily basis?
