Three cheers to those who resist
Thank you resisters! The ACA (Obamacare) is safe for now. Our calls, emails, tweets, marches, sit-ins…our voices were heard. We stopped the repeal! The ACA isn’t perfect and changes must be made. But ramming a health-care-denial bill through the Senate without bipartisan, medical expert or other input was destined for the dung heap.
John McCain made an important speech, but why wasn’t it delivered months ago? Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins are the real heroes of the Republican Party. Murkowski received actual threats from Trump and Zinke! How dare they!
In my calls to McCain, I told him my story. My husband died 12 years ago from the same type of brain cancer he has, glioblastoma. Fortunately for my husband and our family, he had health insurance through his employer. It was a nightmare for us, but would have been unbearable to watch him suffer without the care and comfort he received through his insurance. McCain has excellent health insurance through our federal government, and he is receiving the care he deserves -- that we all deserve! We just want what the Congress has; is that so outrageous?
Thank you to all of the organizers, naming a few: Indivisible, ACLU, NARAL, Planned Parenthood and plain old grass roots word-of-mouth.If we can stop the machine once, we can do it again when the next assault comes our way. Stay strong, stay vigilant and stay connected. We will take back our government, which has been highjacked by a selfish, egotistical, self-righteous and privileged few.
