The real deal for Olympia School Board

I am always amazed by those individuals who step into public service roles while juggling full-time jobs and family commitments. As I consider my job, my to-do list and ferrying my son to his various activities, the mere thought of such an endeavor overwhelms me.

Then, I look at my friend Scott Clifthorne, who is running for school board, and I am inspired. I’m inspired by his dedication to making this world a better place in spite of his busy life and other commitments. I am inspired that he steps up again and again when he could say, “No — I’m too busy.” I’m inspired that he volunteers as PTO president at his son’s elementary school and helps coach debate at Capital High School when he could be at home relaxing.

In fact, Scott has been so inspiring that I volunteered to help with an election campaign for the first time in my life — his campaign. Fortunately, there are leaders like Scott who step in where most of us fear to tread, and they inspire change, growth and improvement. I realize that most of you don’t know Scott Clifthorne as I do, so I encourage you to check out his election website at scottclifthorne.com and vote. He’s the real deal.
