Don't believe McClure/McGregor campaign lies

EJ Zita is the only thoughtful and wise Port Commissioner of the three sitting commissioners. Consistent lies are being told in letter to the editor submissions from the Gigi McClure / Bill McGregor campaigns. Joe Downing / McGregor consistently behave in a sexist and rude manner to EJ when she has an objection to the environmental and financially unsound projects the other two support. The marine terminal lost $1.7 million last year. The port’s real estate rental company, Peninsula Properties, lost $600,000, totaling with other losses $3.2 million in 2016.

In contrast, the Port of Tacoma raised overall $20 million in 2016, Port of Port Angeles cleared $2 million, Port of Everett $1.7 million.

Gigi McClure’s campaign donations from real estate/development interests will support all of the poorly thought out decisions of Downing / McGregor. These three if elected will continue to support corporate welfare instead of renegotiation of the lease with the Weyerhaeuser log dump operation with the lowest per-square-foot lease in Washington. Thurston property taxpayers also subsidize $5.2 million per year for the losses / interest on $59 million debt!

While claiming to support Local 47 longshoremen, McGregor failed to attend the Thurston / Mason / Lewis Labor Day Picnic Sept. 4. Zita / Fishburn’s union support: IBEW Local 77 and WFSE Local 443 (AFSCME) and they are endorsed by many more groups and individuals.

It is time to re-elect EJ Zita and elect Bill Fishburn to turn this publicly subsidized disaster, the Port of Olympia, into a sustainable and profitable operation!
