Port Authority needs disrupting

Regarding a previous letter to the editor calling the Port Commissioner E.J. Zita disruptive, I think it’s a good thing as the Port of Olympia needs disrupting.

It has been ‘doing business as usual’ for a long time and it’s not working. It loses millions of dollars each year so it has to be subsidized by tax payers. Most port authorities are self supporting, Olympia’s is not. I don’t think tax payers should subsidize a large company like Weyerhaeuser or other private jobs. Continuing ‘business as usual’ the Port will never see a profit.

As far as shipping is concerned, the port waters are too shallow for large ships to enter and it cannot be dredged due to contaminated soil. Repurposing the Port, as E.J. Zita supports, just makes sense. Bill McGregor needs to be out and Bill Fishburn and E.J. Zita need to be voted in.
