Thoughts and prayers aren’t enough

Thoughts and prayers — after every gun massacre, we are asked to hold the victims in our thoughts and prayers. President Trump did so in response to the Las Vegas massacre.

Mourning is important, but thoughts and prayers do nothing to prevent the next massacre. Why doesn’t he ask for thoughts and prayers and effective gun control measures? How about thoughts and prayers to ban all military-style rifles?

Oh right. I forgot. There is the NRA, which allows the Republican Congress to consider only thoughts and prayers, but no action. Good grief!
