Objection to cartoon on opinion page

When I read today’s (Oct. 4) paper, I was appalled that The Olympian would print a cartoon on the opinion page with what happened in Las Vegas. Throwing out blame on President Trump, the GOP and the NRA was way out of line and hit way below the belt. The individuals (victims) involved need time to recover after this horrific event and do not need a newspaper mocking what happened. You need to apologize to these families.

It takes a very sick, troubled and angry individual to have committed a crime like this, and we may never know why, but your mocking cartoon was not something anyone needs to see at this time. Let these victims and their families try to find some peace, and let the police complete their investigation and listen to what their conclusions are. Remember guns don’t kill people, people kill people, and those of us that own them legally and know we have a responsibility to keep them in a safe place are as upset over what has happened. Do not classify us all in the same “We need to take their guns away” group. No matter what laws you try to pass concerning guns, there will always be those that can get them no matter what, whether legally or by other means.

May God bless the families who have suffered a loss or those that were injured by this sick individual.
