GOP has a risky tax proposal

Dear fellow Olympia community members,

I am writing out of concern for our quality of life and the future of our children. I am alarmed at the current GOP tax plan that is about to be rammed through Congress. Although it is being presented as a tax break for the middle class, it is far from that. If you read the fine print, the majority of the tax benefits will go to the wealthy and corporations. This huge loss of revenue for our country will result in massive national debt and a reduction in services to those in need.

The idea that drastically reducing taxes for the wealthy will somehow magically increase revenue was just tried in Kansas. The state is on now on a path to bankruptcy.

Our current president has been down this road of debt before. His businesses have gone bankrupt four times. Let’s not let him do the same to our country.
