Harassment victims are not to be laughed at

Regarding Randy Eriksen’s Nov. 25 letter: Only an unlearned, unempathetic and sheltered individual could find harassment in the workplace laughable. In the past and even now, women need to work, and the workplace hasn’t been necessarily different from one job to the other when it comes to harassment. Our culture has permitted sexual harassment. Individual courage had nothing to do with it.

Now, someone nudged the rock and started it rolling, men and women joined what was soon to become an avalanche of rage and outcry. It’s time. The culture is changing, Mr. Eriksen. As with anything else, people put up with it until they can’t.
