New tax code; not the new jobs we need
There are 1.2 million people making a living preparing taxes; maybe another third for the government employees collecting it. The entire U.S. military employs only 1.3 million people as an example. It is hard to compare the two, but it gives some perspective of how complex and costly the tax system is.
The new law was to simplify the tax code to a post card, something that would address a solvable problem of unneeded complexity. It ended up being a fight over who should benefit from a yet greater increase in the debt our children will have to pay to foreign sovereign funds.
The new code? Think 1.4 million people making a living preparing taxes. The post card is for writing home about the new jobs this legislation has created.
