A different way to be Catholic

Like many Catholics, I am saddened and disheartened by the revelations of child sexual abuse coming out of Pennsylvania, on top of so many other occurrences.

Unlike many Catholics, I refuse to either stay in the Roman Catholic Church or leave the faith altogether.

Rather, I have found an alternative, independent Catholic community here in Olympia. In this community I am able to live my Catholic faith, practice the liturgy and sacraments, and be part of a community that welcomes all, regardless of gender, race, marital status, or sexual orientation. This community is Emmaus Ecumenical Catholic Community.

Our pastor, Reverend Kedda Keough, has been an ordained priest in the Ecumenical Catholic Communion since 2010. On Oct. 20, she will be consecrated as a Bishop in the ECC. She will shepherd the ECC communities of the Pacific Northwest in creating and sustaining a diocese.

To learn more, visit our website, emmaus-ecc.org or our FaceBook page. We meet for Mass each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Space at First Christian Church, 700 Franklin St. SE, Olympia. Join us and see if we are a good fit for you.
